Development / Re: Side scrolling functionality

Oh it could be so cool ! I really like these parts in Zelda games, but I've always thought they should have been more polished. Maybe the focus wasn't put on them to be sure the game would be different than Metroid or Castlevania.
Solarus might become a good Metroidvania engine someday.  ;)

Creative Commons are not compatible ? Oh s*** , that is the licence I used for Solarus logos!  :-\ So I have to change. Where did you find this ?

Yes you just have to copy/paste the licence file in your data, and you can also use an abbreviated licence in each file. Also, I've never understood how this can prevent a company to use the files without telling anyone... But that's how it works, so let's hope people are nice and generous.  :P

If you register everything with GPL, it means anyone can see it, modify it, share it or even sell it. But there is one condition : they must give to every modification or addition the same licence. So if they sell it, people would be stupid to pay because they can get still it for free. So that would be the licence to choose.

Hi mbombe, thank you for your compliments. I don't know why I didn't translate the walkthrough, I suppose it was open to other to do so. The hardest part of the guide is done (screenshots, maps, placing the dots for events, chests and doors...), and it's open to anyone to just translate the text. You can find the source of the french guide here : https://github.com/Renkineko/zmosdx-soluce just in case you would help to translate :p
If someone translates the text into English, I might find time someday to adapt the InDesign document to allow translations

Thank you for noticing my mistakes, I have to correct that ! I added everything in a new section called "Miscellaneous" on the Mystery Of Solarus DX page on solarus-games.org.
Have you seen the game manual and box art ? They were only on our second website zelda-solarus.com (French speaking only) before that.

Hello, I'm Neovyse who made the PDF walkthrough with Renkineko. Thank you for your compliment !
Do you spreak/read French ? I am wondering because the PDF is only in French, because when we wrote it, I learnt Adobe InDesign while making the walkthrough, so translating was beyond idea ! For the next game (Mercuris' Chest), I will try to make everything translatable, including the old-school game manual and the game packaging. Also there will be a big hand-drawn overworld map (like the one for Zelda 3) and all that little stuff that made old game packagings so awesome! :)

For the questions, I let Christopho answer, he knows better!

I already knew that, but thanks ! Since a recent update, the website is a bit broken ^^ I have to investigate that.
Edit: I corrected the bug you noticed, but there are still redirections issues and top links in the menu have also issues

It's not wrong, it's just that it could be better ;)
We are using Vantage, which is not totally free. We use the free version, but there is a full version where you can do more stuff. And that stuff is easy to add, but we cannot add it in Vantage. Currently, it's a bit tweaked and some stuff like the top entries in the menu have strange behavior. And when you have to update it, all the modifications in the CSS have to be added again. Not very handy!

This website?

Not the forum but the wordpress theme used for http://www.solarus-games.org/.
But if you can make a SimpleMachines Forum theme, it's just as good.

I played a bit your quest and it's very good !
And then, I had a look at your quest data and noticed some nice ennemies were new. Did you create them (sprites and Lua) ?

It makes me think we should make a little tutorial on how to use Qt Linguist to translate quests the quest editor, so everyone could translate it and not only developers :)
And if you're good at web development, your help is welcome for helping me on the website. I was thinking about creating a free and open-source Wordpress theme not only for Solarus, but that could be use for any software project, since categories are always the same (dev blog, download, FAQ, dev documentation...) . I noticed such theme does not exists for the moment (or is not free). So your help is welcome there too !

General discussion / Re: Distribution

This is not very handy. ???
Maybe he could give the engine along with the data, but make the user aware, in the license, that he pays only for the quest, and that the engine, already included for facilitation, can be downloaded anyway on solarus-games.org.
Imagine he wants to sell an Android app. This would be very hard for a simple user to downloaded the quest on Google Play and the, go to solarus-games.org and downloaded the engine !
Perhaps, we should recommand to always display the Solarus logo in the introduction, and add a line to specify its license there ?
