General discussion / Re: Zelda Fan Games

I'm pretty sure The Hero of Dreams is known as one of the best, if not the best game made using zelda classic. Here is a link if you didn't have one already.

http://www.purezc.net/index.php?page=quests&id=139

If you want more zelda fan games, there are over 100 their, but I'm not going to be adding those because they already have a good website where you can get them. I am more focused on recovering ones lost in the depth of the internet.

A list and short description I can work on. However many of these do not have official websites or they have been taken down.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THESE WERE DOWNLOADED FROM ANYWHERE I COULD FIND THEM ONLINE, SO I CANNOT ASSURE THAT THEY DON'T HAVE VIRUSES. I DON'T THINK THEY DO, HOWEVER THEY STILL COULD.

For the Past few months I have been collecting many completed zelda fan games and now I want to share them for other people to play.

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0Bw-lpJvCSDp-aHFSTWV3RmRXTU0

The fan games in the folder are all finished, so you can play any of them. The unpacked zelda folder is all the unpacked files from stuff I downloaded looking for zelda fan games, there are some other games in there however they don't play like normal zelda games, unlike all of the ones that are in individual folders. If you have any questions just ask I am sure I left out some information.

This is probably a dumb question but I just can't seem to figure out how to change the font in the game. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks, I got the fact that I would have to use a image editor such as GIMP to make the file, I was just wondering how to format that image. The link really helped.

1) Go to the previously told link and click on "Download v1.5.0" under Mac OS X. That should start your download of the engine and game launcher.

2) After downloaded, unzip the file which will get you a folder that contains 3 programs.
                a) one program is called the solarus quest editor and that is where if you are ever interested, you can make you own quest.
                b) The second is just called solarus, this is where you can add all the quests you downloaded and make them available using one simple menu.
                c) The third one is solarus-run. If you place this program in the same folder that contains the data file for the quest the game will launch automatically when you run that program.

3) Then go to https://sites.google.com/site/zeldabom/download and download version 1.1(do not click get full version here, that only gets you 1.0). Then unzip that file.

4) Now launch solarus and click the add quest button on the lower right side. Find the folder that contains the data folder( make sure not to click the data folder itself, it won't work if you do), select it, and click open.

5) that should have added the quest so you can now see it on your quest list. Then click on the quest and click play on the right side to enjoy!

I get that you have to make a png of it, but how would you format that picture. Would you make a grid and put the letters in their? Should i use the image that holds the ALTTP font as the layot for making my own font?

Just a little project update here. I have now mapped all of dungeon 1 and two and both are traversable. Next I will be working on dungeons 3, then 4...etc... until I finish them all which is when I will start working on all the hidden secrets on the overworld. However  I can't figure out how to add music to the quest. I downloaded a music file and put it in the music directory so I can add it to the quest. And when I did that, and pressed play, nothing happened. I tried that with both the .mp3 format and the .ogg format and both ended up with the same outcome of nothing happening. If someone could help me out here that would be awesome, thanks! Also, how can you create your own font using the editor, I can't seem to figure it out by myself.

Thanks, Ezka

While looking at ffomega's Absolute hyrule tileset I saw how you mentioned Zelda: The Spirit World as a fan game. I looked it up and found this link on it:

http://z1.invisionfree.com/CPPlearningcommunity/ar/t4654.htm

It ends up this game was completed and he put a download link on that web page. However the download link doesn't work. If anyone knows or finds a link that works that would be awesome!

General discussion / Pictures in posts
January 28, 2017, 01:58:02 AM
During my short lived time here on this forum, I have posted a few pictures. Now I use the attach option and choose the .png or what other file I want to show. However I have noticed that those only show up(at least for me) when I am logged in. Otherwise it just looks like I am a crazy dude talking to a wall. However I notice that there must be another way to post an image because I often browse these forums without having been signed in and actually see pictures. So my question is:How do you post pictures so that anyone can see them?

Thanks, Ezka

I am currently stuck looking for the Mountain Top Mausoleum. I completed the forest dungeon, then the pyramid, then the ice, and I can't get any further in the tower of winds which makes me think I missed a dungeon. Any help?
