Your projects / The Legend of Zelda - Forgotten Legend
« on: December 12, 2021, 08:55:25 AM »
Hello everybody !

It's been a long time since I didn't post a thread on these forums... don't worry, I'm not dead, I'm always working on some Zelda fangames :P
Unfortunately I left Tower of the Triforce on the side... but to work on another fangame actively... let me introduce you The Legend of Zelda - Forgotten Legend !

Trailer and Download link (beta 0.1): https://youtu.be/sK5d5OFvCBE

In a few words...

This project is again a remake of an old project I never released... it was my first project made with Solarus, when I discovered the engine, back in 2015 !
I'm actively working on the project since april 2021 and I'm currentely working on it, adding new stuff progressively.
You must know that the game is playable in a beta version, that I will update until the final release !
So you can download the game and play it, if you want. There is a download link in the description of the trailer above... this project is in a beta state, so you may encounter bugs, not final stuff, a risk of corrupted savegame with later versions. The beta version is not in English too but I will do an English version for the release 1.0, as I did for my Zeldo's Challenges :)
The game is currently in development and I will give you informations and updates in this thread. The release should be for... later 2022 or 2023 :D

Plot:

Forgotten Legend has for purpose to tell the first hero adventures and the origins of Darkness and Calamity Ganon... Hyrule is in a golden age, that's the opposite of Tower of the Triforce. Zelda called Link, an Hylien who lived among the Kokiris, at Hyrule Castle. You can't refuse the request of Zelda. It's the beginning of a new and epic quest in the Kingdom of Hyrule...

Game design:

The game will be in a pure Zelda spirit with a lot of quests, exploration and dungeons. There will be side quests too and a lot of mecanics inspired by most of the games in the series.

Game duration:

I can't tell you a precise duration for the moment... the beta version has 4 to 6 hours lenght. My final purpose is to make a complete game of 20-30 hours lenght :)

Development progress:

- Main Dungeons: 25%
- Side Dungeons: 10%
- Overworld (mapping): 60%
- Main Quests: 25%
- Side Quests: 10%

Some points are not very precise, maybe I will change them on the future for this category...

Screenshots:

I hope this little preview will be give you some hype for the future release of the game :P don't hesitate to give your advices or impressions on this thread ^^
If you want to play the beta version, don't forget to let me your remarks and observations. I will make for you the best possible gaming experience :D
I will see you soon for further informations :)

Also, sorry for my bad English, I usually speak French so it can be a little complicated to explain some things clearly xD

The development continues but slowly... I have some things to do in my life, those slow the development a little bit but I don't stop it !
I'm currently working on a new Dungeon, here are some screens for you:

As usually, any suggestion or advices are welcome... I have another LITTLE information: I hope to release a demo of the game at the end of the year, and it will include this Dungeon :D

640x756 ? Is it the total resolution of your map ? Or the number of screens ?

My overworld is intended to be splitten into 16 maps. Each map has a size of 1600x960 pixels which means a total size of 6400x3840 for the entire overworld :D but it is not so big once you know where to go ^^

Thanks for the enthousiasm brlmnd and the others for the read of this thread ^^

Here is a little update for the project, as I told you I will share them here :D

Here is the update, little but important I think: the map will reveal the explored areas as the exploration progresses, the unknown ones will be hidden by clouds... just like these:

This work very easily: when the player enters in a new area, this one is not more hidden and so the map will show more and more things until it shows Hyrule in full :D

For the curious, here is the full map at this moment of the development of the game... beware spoiler !

Hi Dianthus :)

I use a shader for the art style of the game who has been made by stdgregwar, light effects during the night or dark rooms are also from him ^^

My project has a 320x240 resolution, maybe I'll do wider resolutions but for my future games cause the design of the rooms in Tower of the Triforce has been made for a 320x240 resolution so far...

Curious to see what your project looks like in the future :P

Hello everybody !

After the release of the Zeldo's Challenge games I left the forums and the Solarus community a little bit, to work discretly on a new project... but now this project is enough advanced to do a little presentation of it... let me introduce you... The Legend of Zelda - Tower of the Triforce !
In a few words...

I began this project originally in 2017... the project was really advanced with 3 dungeons done but due to a lack of time, inspiration and motivation I decided to stop it, making after that the Zeldo's Challenge Chapter 2...
However, I decided to restart the project from 0 in the beginning of 2020... with more experience with the solarus engine than in 2017...
I'm developping the game now and I'll give you informations or news with this thread, I'll take care of it, don't worry :D

Plot:

The game takes place during the fall of the Kingdom of Hyrule... only one town remains. The other places are invaded by monsters...
Where does these fall come from ? The ancient have hidden the Triforce on the top of a Tower to protect it from the desire and lust of the humans... ensuring that a Hero with a pure heart will come to find the Triforce and bring the Light in Hyrule...
However, the Hero has never come and the monsters attacked the Kingdom  :(
In this context, 100 years later, the last Zelda is calling Link, a treasure hunter, to find the Triforce. Will Link success in this mission ?

Game design:

The game will be very classical, in a pure Zelda spirit, contrary to Zeldo's Challenge games who were very crazy and humoristics... however there will be some humor but in a Zelda style...
Like in any other Zelda game there will be dungeons and in each one a specific item necessary to go further in the game...
But I have the objective to make the last dungeon (the Tower of the Trifroce) visitable very early in the game, but you'll need the items of the other dungeons to pass through this last challenge and find the Triforce to finish the game...
You will have access to a lot of regions of Hyrule in the beginning of the game to enforce the exploration and the freedom sensation, like in Zelda 1 but not at the point of Breath of the Wild.

Game duration:

I can't tell you a precise duration for the moment... the dungeons have been designed to take 1 or 2 hours to be completely explored and the overworld will be fulled by secrets and side quests... like High-Rule in the Zeldo's Challenge games... but even bigger :D my objective is to have a game of 20-30 hours lenght  :)

Development progress:

- Main Dungeons: 35%
- Side Dungeons: 10%
- Overworld (mapping, alpha version): 90%
- Main quest: 10%
- Side quests: 5%

Some points are not very precise, maybe I will change some points on the future for this category...

Hello!

Time to give you some news about my project... I finished the english translation and the level design of the dungeon has been fixed!

There are still some adjustements to do and some beta tests and I'll release the game :D

I can't give you a release date for the moment but this will be soon ^^

Wuzzy2 I read your review yes and I'm glad you really appreciated the game ^^ thanks for the bug report too, I'll try to fix them and I'll upload the game on another place than mediafire.
But I will not write an english topic for the chapter 2 sorry... the game has been released since 4 months and the download page for the game is in English on the solarus website (thanks to the team behind this by the way...)

« on: August 29, 2019, 08:14:04 AM »
Hello everybody !

I start a new topic, in English this time to talk about the 1st chapter of my little serie "Zeldo's Challenge".

After the release of "Zeldo's Challenge - Chapter 2: The Tower of Memories", some people asked me where they could find the 1st chapter...

This 1st chapter was a little game with 1 dungeon and beatable in 40min-1h and was destined to one person only, it was in 2017...

However, 2 years later, I released the 2nd chapter and decided to release it for a greater audience than only 1 person... the Solarus communauty ! And then people asked me where was this 1st chapter... logical, but I never thought that people would ask me about that xD

So, I decided to do an offficial release for the chapter 1 of Zeldo's Challenge !

This short game will be available soon and will be available for the communauty for sure :D I need some time to fix some bugs and other things... (it's a project from 2017 so I must fix them and adapt the game for a greater audience too).
I'd like to add some features too like input customization and a short english translation ;D

I'll tell you about my advancement in the project soon :D

All reactions are welcome of course :)

Hope to see you soon for the release of "Zeldo's Challenge - Chapter 1" ;)
