I was wondering if it was possible to fill the whole screen with dialog or at certain coordinates. I want to make a stat menu. Is it possible to pass the value of $v for more than one variables in one dialog? Would it be possible to show more than one dialogs at once and have them vanish at the same time?

example:

ATK: 20
DEF: 40
SP.ATK: 30
SP.DEF: 100
Speed: 60

The one from your old 1.3 tutorials on YouTube. Is it possible with the dialogs.dat file? I noticed I think it was $v, but I am not sure if that has anything to do with variables in the map script.

I basically want to display a variable amount in the dialogs text.

How do I display a variable in dialogs? How would I do something like in the example below?

Example:

You took v[apple_amount] apples.

apple_amount would be a variable equal to some number.

You took 20 apples.

I will no longer be hosting this book stuff.

Download it. Save it or just let it vanish.

I honestly agree that Ganon is over used, but the Zelda games do have changes in story and exploration. I would like ARPG games that are not just Zelda though. I liked Sword of Mana. It was pretty advanced for a GBA game, but I feel like it was rushed.

I can play a game forever as long as "new" characters (creatures = mystical beings with animal humanoid characteristics, cyborgs, fairies, mixed, and etc.) and stories are introduced with new places to explore. I like dark settings where the player is trapped with no where to escape. Safe zones or underground villages and etc. The main character being a bad guy or a combination is interesting as well. The hero always winning kinda gets old. Deed choices always gives choices and more quest options. My stories have a great mixture of all the attributes I mentioned.

Secret of Mana was good too. It is for SNES.

Again, very advanced for its time.

Other inspiration might come from:
-Boktai
-Alundra, I did not like the second one Alundra 2 was pretty bad.
-Soul Blazer
-Illusion of Gaia
-Terranigma
-Shining Soul II
-Juka and The Monophonic Menace
-Secret of Evermore
-Yu Yu Hakusho - Ghostfiles - Spirit Detective (This needed more and the art could have been better. Too much limitation and lack of features.), again the second one was horrible because it turned into a turnbased game.

There sooo needs to be a Pokemon ARPG rated M or beyond with humanoid experimentation. Kinda like with Mewtwo. I believe it was a combination of human and mew cells. I think the movie's rating should be higher.

I love exploration and story the most. Puzzles can be annoying if they are too difficult, but none in all the Zelda games I played are too hard. A basic ARPG battle system is all I need, but some advanced features are required for extra fun puzzles.

Development / Re: How do I add a hud?

Might be best to just study the Zelda game Huds and make your own if you want it customized. Download the games' source code and clean out what you do not want. Try to replicate the hud and do some trial/error. The last I checked....Christopho's hud tutorials were a little outdated, but it should be easy to figure out with his hud videos plus the updated code.

That is a good idea, but code might have to be updated for different versions of Solarus. Also, the Zelda games have plenty of free updated working code all the time. It would be good for complex scripts. Time systems, Day night, banking, rain, GUI, and etc.

A writing section might help search results leading to solarus. Also, free stories can help game designers. Competition section will get people interested in sharing art and other resources. That would mean small resource packs. All this could lead to a more stable community leading to more solarus users. Although, maybe you are right.

Also, I use 32 bit. That might help narrow down the leak.

You can use PlayOnLinux to install different versions of wine without affecting your .wine directory. wine 1.4.0+ might lead to a fix too.

Hello,

I think there should be a story writing section on the forum because I wish to post one story writing quest for the Sample quest. Also, a competition section the forum might be good too.

Testing a different version of Solarus might lead to a solution or maybe on another computer. Possibly Oracle virtualbox with Linux images if you want to go all out. That way you can report to Christopho if there is a hardware issue or windows version leak. It might be a leak he needs to patch.

I use Solarus v1.4.4 and this does not happen to me on Ubuntu Precise Cinnamon environment. It did happen to me on Linux elementary OS Luna (based off of Ubuntu precise).  It might have to do with your theme or skin. When running Gimp on Ubuntu it lagged like crazy until I changed the Dark theme. Themes can cause leaks with applications and that is what is happening or maybe a glitch. Windows beyond XP or 7 are still bugy.

This post has a little more Solarus Wine use detail. In case no one could get it to run with Windows 7 wine. The XP option works for my version of wine. Not saying that it can not work with a more recent version. Also, there are some details on how to make a shortcut, save file location, log output, how to make it look nice, and etc.
