Hi guys!  I have begun work on my tutorial site which will show off the various techniques you can use to make the best looking overworlds you can.  This will be a series I plan to start doing.  Keep in mind, that this series is not to teach you how to use Solarus.  It will only focus on the Full Hyrule tileset (for the time-being).

So, to show you what to expect from my series, here is the link to my first lesson, building houses.

The series will be added upon, and after enough of the tutorials have been uploaded, I will have a contents page available to all of them.  There is more to come!!

Happy Mapping!!

This may be useful for others (especially for kids).

You should explain in a more advanced lesson, step by step, how to make a bridge over a river, where the hero can go above and under the bridge (some people have problems to make this kind of stuff because of the tricky change of layers).
"If you make people think they're thinking, they'll love you. But if you really make them think, they'll hate you."

Actually I looked but currently, I don't believe there is a simple way to create a bridge in which you can walk both underneath and above it without scripting.  Seems that the only object that can do this is the stairs object, which plays the sound of Link walking on stairs as well as a sound effect.

Perhaps Christopho can implement an object which is essentially identical to the stairs entity but functions as a ladder instead?  This way no one would need to resort to scripting just to create a true to life bridge.  I mean he has entities that can move you from a higher layer to a lower layer (the jumper), and the stairs entity, which takes control away from the player until an animation and sound effect of Link actually walking up or down a stair is played, which would be weird to use in an overworld map without using actual stairs.

As a result, I am unable to provide an easy way to do this, as I am not a scriptor :( I am sorry ._.

Well... to change layer, it can be done by teleporting the hero when some sensor is activated (a normal teleporter works too, but it works better with a sensor since you do not need a destination).

Okay, I was reading too much into what to do and making it seem harder than it actually was, but I think now that I have an idea on how to do it, I can certainly make a tutorial.  Although it required me to update my data file again, so please be sure to update it so the tutorial will work for you should you try to follow it :)

The houses tutorial page got a bit of an update, showing off how to change the color of the rooftop's trimming and windows, and includes a tutorial on how to build the Witch's hut from A Link to the Past.
