Development / Licenses Clarification?
November 28, 2013, 07:53:36 PM
Hi,

I was wondering if there could be some clarification on the licenses for both games.

QuoteCode License: GPLv3
Mystery of Solarus DX Artwork License: Mixed  (original Solarus assets under CC-BY-SA, but the game also uses spritework taken directly the A Link to the Past rom)

Well, first of all, the solarus_license.txt should be in the top most directory/folder of each game (NOT the  build/win32 directory/folder) and a copy of the correct GNU General Public License is supposed to be included with it, as mentioned in the text file.

Second of all, which sprites (in both games) are taken from the ROM? I'm not sure if others agree, but I for one would like to see the games fully open-source, not ripped. I can give it a shot myself, if I have some time to spare, but first artists need to know what needs replacing. It's best to replace them early too, before a ton of mods start using them.

It would be great if someone could come up with a list of the assets to be replaced, at some time.
